I can’t connect a Facebook account. When I try, I get a popup window that automatically closes, but Social doesn’t connect. If I logout of Facebook before attempting to connect in Social settings, I get a FB login window, but it doesn’t connect. I’ve deleted the Facebook App Social Proxy by Mailchimp, but all that happens is I’m asked to authorize the app, and Social still doesn’t connect.

The debug_log reads:

I just updated to WordPress 4.0, but it hasn’t been working in earlier versions either.

I am having similar problem with my blog eCruzi and this has significantly affected my traffic as social has been the main route of sharing my blog posts to social networks.
Please resolve this as soon ad possible.

I am experiencing an error with Facebook as well. Also Twitter. Last week, it appeared that Twitter was working, but now it isn’t. Issue seems to come and go. VERY frustrating.

I’m having the same problem also. I went to facebook and deleted the app there and then tried to reconnect, but got the same problem.

WordPress changed the way nonces are created in version 4.0 in a way that broke this feature in Social. A patch to fix this would be welcome, I’m not sure when we will have time to address it:

So there are no plans to fix this but just hope someone else does? Can you recommend an alternative plugin that does work?
