This thread is referring to the issue of unable to create new gallery or unable to successfully upload images to gallery as of v1.9.10/v1.9.11Beta of NextGEN Gallery & WordPress v3.5.x . This thread is NOT referring to the ‘Page Refreshes/URI Too Large‘ error.

If you are experiencing this error, please detail the below needed information + temp. login information in a Bug Report to us here. Thanks!

    – WordPress up to date?
    – NextGEN up to date? (Did this error begin as of v1.9.10 or v1.9.11Beta?)

(please confirm the following, with your server host tech) :
    – MySQL up to date (5.2.4)?
    – PHP up to date (5.0)?
    – The mod_rewrite Apache module activated?
    – PHP Safe Mode OFF?

and if you’re willing to share:
    – Who are you hosted with?
    – What theme are you running?
    – Which plugins do you have installed and activated?
    – Does this error still occur if you switch your theme to the WP default, and deactivate all plugins except NextGEN Gallery? (*be sure to clear your browser cache and reload your site after deactivating)

We will likely have a fix for this in our next upgrade, but to be sure we do – we’ll need as much information as possible from those of you who are experiencing this bug.

*Please do not post unrelated issues in this thread. This thread is specifically for the issue of being unable to create new gallery or upload images to gallery as of v1.9.10 upgrade/v1.9.11Beta & WP 3.5.x.

    Thanks!

  • Hi again,
akira02 the database tables are exactly what you set out in your fix.
The weird thing is that it is working on my local machine but not on my live server (the configuration outlined above in my previous post).

My local machine configuration where the NextGEN gallery seems to work (v.1.9.12) is:
Operating System : WINNT (32 Bit)
    Server : Apache/2.2.11 (Win32) DAV/2 mod_ssl/2.2.11 OpenSSL/0.9.8i mod_autoindex_color PHP/5.2.8
    Memory usage : 30.88 MByte
    MYSQL Version : 5.1.30-community
    SQL Mode : Not set
    PHP Version : 5.2.8
    PHP Safe Mode : Off
PHP Allow URL fopen : On
    PHP Memory Limit : 128
PHP Max Upload Size : 64M
PHP Max Post Size : 64M
    PCRE Backtracking Limit : 500000
PHP Max Script Execute Time : 60s
    PHP Exif support : Yes ( V1.4 )
    PHP IPTC support : Yes
    PHP XML support : Yes
    Graphic Library

GD Version : bundled (2.0.34 compatible)
    FreeType Support : Yes
    FreeType Linkage : with freetype
    T1Lib Support : Yes
    GIF Read Support : Yes
    GIF Create Support : Yes
    JPG Support : Yes
    PNG Support : Yes
    WBMP Support : Yes
    XPM Support : No
    XBM Support : Yes
JIS-mapped Japanese Font Support : No

So why am I seeing an error on my live server?

    JOL

    JOL,

The true truth is that all thats details dont tell me nothing.
The problem that i found wasnt important on that details but the structure of the database for me was very significant.

You must download a .sql backup of the three tables of ngg_ from your wordpress database, then delete this 3 tables, then delete the plugin from wordpress plugins, and then try to install on your server online the plugin.

When you finish to install the plugin, look if the plugin work ok, creating a gallery and uploading 1 image to 1 gallery.

If all are right, just go to your wordpress database, empty the 3 NGG_ tables, import to each table the respective .sql file, then just make the changes that i told.

Seems to be my experience that when someone does a “major upgrade” to their plugin, it wipes out my site. Especially if they’re not the original creator (@alex rabe).
If there’s a major upgrade photocrati style, I suggest they offer another version compatible with Mr. Rabe’s foundations for the rest of us.
Once again, I delete everything, download plugin, upload all files via ftp, and still nada. All albums/galleries gone.

https://92zew.net/wordpress/photo-gallery if you care to investigate, but I’m still trying to solve other godaddy issues right now.

My heart breaks for all the time I’ll lose in re-creating 30 or so galleries and image descriptions.

    My children thank you.

Perhaps Photocrati would be better off by giving Mr. Rabe some kind of commission or something to make it right for long time users. Or ask us for $5 to get the older version.

Tried importing original gallery, still nothing. Interestingly, the tags showed up and image slots, Just no images.
    Thank you for any help.

    is the base addy.
If it is sql and database issue, many of us have no access, nor do administrators want us messing with that.
    Isn’t there anything else?
We have major event in two weeks where those pictures will play a huge role.

Its only the file upload via admin that doesn’t work for me.

I can create the gallery fine, so I ended up transferring the images via FTP to the correct folder on my server and then in admin of the site going to the Manage gallery section and selecting “Scan folder for new Images”.
Hey Presto, all images processed and added to the database.

    JOL

I can’t upload as well. it’s jsut a 0% and just stays there.

but ummm… do we have a fix in “english” terms? lol I don’t understand this adding “slug” thing, but it seems to fix everyone’s issue..

    help?

It is concerning us that there are still users who are having trouble uploading, even with v1.9.12. I’d like to gather some more info. from those of you who are still having trouble. Could you let me know the hosting provider you’re using, the theme you have activated, plugins you have installed, and confirm for me that you have deactivated and reactivated NextGEN Gallery and it still won’t upload? Does it work if you deactivate all plugins and reactivate only NextGEN?

*PLEASE NOTE: deleting the plugin will permanently delete your gallery data, which will cause you to have to start from scratch. So, please do not delete the plugin!

I do hope we can get this fixed for all of you! The information above will help us try and re-create your environment to see if we can duplicate your same error.

    Thanks!

    Hello,
I ended up adding the missing database columns and so I cannot say if there would have been trouble with the most recent update. However my client’s site is on Dreamhost. She has had the account for many years so it may be on an older computer/server. Not sure. I hope that helps a little. best,
    Daniel

HI, I use Hostgator. I have my own dedicated server. The theme is Magdalena. Plugins – Akismet 2.5.7, Contact Form Manager 1.3, Hello Dolly 1.6 (inactive), Jigoshop 1.6.2, NextGen Gallery 1.9.12, Nextscripts 2.7.8, Really Simple Facebook 2.9.3, SK Testimonials 1.16.1.

Tested with no plugins, with standard theme (Twenty Twelve), various versions of Nextgen Gallery, reinstalled it, activated it, deactivated it every which way, with no plugins active except NextGen. I have literally tried everything I can think of and everything I’ve read.

    Website is thecakehousespain.com.
When I try to upload new photos it redirects to:

    https://thecakehousespain.com/wp-admin/admin.php?page=nggallery-add-gallery&skipjs[0]=https://thecakehousespain.com/wp-content/themes/Magdalena/includes/js/editor_plugin.js?ver=3.5.1

And gives a page not found.

Using WordPress 3.5.1 and Magdalena by BluChic 12.10. Please help. I have all but given up on this plugin now. I haven’t been able to use it for months.

    Regards,
    David.

    Thank you @danielwiener & @fuddus !

@fuddus, would you mind sending in your site login information through a bug report here: https://www.nextgen-gallery.com/report-bug/

I do think that a quick look at your site, settings and server environment may help us diagnose what may be causing this to happen still for some users, running v1.9.12.

    Thanks!

Just to update you all on what we’re finding so far, we have received some login information from users who are experiencing this error, we have logged in to their sites >> deactivated NextGEN Gallery > reactivated the plugin and the issue is resolved.

What is puzzling us still, is those of you who have mentioned you tried this, and the error persists. Some of you have gone as far as to reconstruct quite a few of the database tables. @akira02 – can you tell us if you attempted deactivating NextGEN Gallery with v1.9.12 installed, and then reactivate the plugin, before you modified the database tables?

For those of you currently experiencing the error of unable to create a gallery / upload images, can you please deactivate the NextGEN Gallery plugin, clear your browser cache, and then reactivate the NextGEN Gallery plugin and let us know if this works for you? If it does not, try deactivating all plugins (including NGG) and then reactivate NextGEN Gallery only. If the issue still persists, please send in a bug report to us here, with login information to your site: https://www.nextgen-gallery.com/report-bug/

    Thanks!
