  • Hello again ??

First thing I notice from your image is you havent mastered how to properly upload themes.

When you unzip a theme.. occasionally you will have a directory like “abc” and inside “abc” will be another directory named “def” and inside “def” will be the theme files (the first hint at this will be the presence of an index.php, and a style.css, and most likely other files like sidebar.php, etc.. within the directory.

It is the “def” directory that you want to upload, not “abc”

In other words, you want :

    wp-content/themes/def

where “def” is your theme name

    not:

    wp-content/themes/abc/def

As for any usage of dreamweaver — dont use it. Its not an ftp client, and you should not edit wordpress themes with it. So it’s useless ??

If you are on a mac there are plenty of decent ftp clients — fetch (i guess is one used alot around here)

    https://www.fetchsoftworks.com/

If you are on windows, there are 1000s.

I am guessing once you obtain a decent ftp client, you will be able to delete the files you are having trouble with. If not, assuming you have cpanel access, I know that you can from there.

Nope. I got an FTP and tried.

I uploaded the theme Summerbreeze. It still won’t show.

    My screen shot is at

It maybe I need to remove some other themes that were not successful but I have not been able to remove even in FTP
    See

ok, to remove that directory try this ..

Rename the directory to something else.. that contains characters like question marks your dog’s name, anything just something other than what it is.. no spaces either.

then go into the newly renamed directory and try to delete anything that’s inside it. If theres anything inside the directory that oddly named, rename it. then try to delete.

After youve emptied the contents try to to delete the actual directory.

Start from the inside and work your way out.. deleting things.

the theme thing is odd. I notice in both your screenshots that there are no permissions displayed for that summerbreeze theme directory, among other things, no timestamp either….

That can only mean that something went screwy in that upload or that the proper permissions ight not have been set as you uploaded.

If you dont see any permissions, try changing them to 755 for that direcotry.

    Thanks for your help.

I found why the theme didn’t show–I was installing in the main wordpress folder thinking it would appear in all the blogs (I’m hosting).I guess I have to install each theme into each blog.

“If you dont see any permissions, try changing them to 755 for that direcotry.”

    How?

Since youve figured out why you were having trouble .. dont worry about that right this second..

Do make a todo list though that includes learning how to change permissions on files using whatever ftp client you are using.
