Hi, as of 11/16/2018 at 6:36PM EST I got an alert that said WordFence could not detect IP addresses. When I logged into the site to check, I noticed a alert screen from Blue Host (the hosting provider) asking if my site was for business or pleasure or something like that and their Blue Host plugin was activated and running. I called them and they said they had no idea what do about it since they use something else and said everything looks fine on their side of things. I removed the plugin and deleted it, but found the “unable to detect IP addresses” alert still there and chose the option made available that says “Recommended Value.” I checked to make sure my IP address was listed under Diagnostics with the green check mark and it’s still there. No new users.

A few minutes later, I ran a new scan, and the alert “unable to accurately detect IPs Type IP Detection.” Is my site hacked?

Update: Blue Host ran some tests and said everything looked fine on their end but that somehow the “How does WordFence detect IP addresses” was unchecked. They said this could be a bug or caused by an update but by simply checking the appropriate box, the issues seems resolved.

But I don’t know if there is a weird glitch with a very recent update or something else that caused it – so just FYI in case you guys want to know.

    Hi @affordablewebsitesdenvercom,

Sorry for the long reply! I’m glad you were able to sort it out!

I believe it might have been caused by the recent update, but I’m not sure.

    Dave
