    Hello,
Fairly new user here and just had my first problem. I uploaded an episode of my podcast last night and it went fine. Verified correctly and shows up in iTunes. I’ve even had multiple downloads at this point of the episode. However, just a bit ago, the episode vanished from iTunes. I edited the wordpress post and re-clicked Verify URL and now it is saying “unable to determine file format.” This is weird because when I click the link in the same error message, it plays fine. I’m using Libsyn as my host and fairly sure that is not my problem.

    Any ideas??

Here is the link to the episode.

Thanks for reporting this bug. It will be fixed in the next release of PowerPress.

We updated the getid3 library to the latest version. With one of the function calls we make we need to add a 3rd parameter.

If you do not want to wait until the next release (most likely coming by the end of this week), let me know and I’ll share a link to the dev version.

    Angelo,

I am a long time user and I have the same issue with not being able to determine file format. We release a daily show so this will put a damper on things for us.

Any chance of it being fixed before tomorrow morning at 4am?

    Thanks in advance!

I’d love a link to the Dev version if you could share. My podcast is extremely new and just starting to pick up listener so waiting would hurt quite a bit.

You can download the dev version here:
    https://downloads.www.ads-software.com/plugin/powerpress.zip
You will need to deactivate your current version of PowerPress (don’t worry, your settings are stored in the WordPress database, not the PowerPress plugin itself), delete your current version of PowerPress and then manually install this version.

For the record, I encountered the error tonight as well. First time I’ve seen it since I’ve been using the plugin in two years. On version 7.0.

And the new manually uploaded plugin fixed the problem. Thank you!

I found this message last night when I was trying to post a new episode of my podcast and found the same error.

Since I don’t have access to the file system on the site that hosts our wordpress, I wasn’t able to manually update the plugin.

I posted the episode anyway without the validation to see if it would work or not.

I thought others may be interested in knowing that everything still went out and posted to iTunes, etc. just fine without the validation.

So if you are confident in your URL format, it will still post using 7.0 of the plug-in.

You will still get errors shown at the time you post saying it can’t be validated, but it all still worked.

Glad the manual option is working in the interim.

We will be release PowerPress 7.0.1 this evening. We’re very pleased to find that this is the only problem folks are having up to this point.

Again sorry we did not catch this during beta testing. It would be great if someone who is having this problem joins the beta program. We have over 100 beta testers but it appears we still need more to cover situations like this one. If anyone is interested in joining the beta program, please email me angelo [at] blubrry (dot) com.

    Thanks!

Just a tip for anyone needing to manually add a plugin to WordPress. You don’t need FTP access to do this. If you have admin-level access, just go to Plugins >> Add New >> Upload Plugin and there you can manually add a plugin to your site by uploading the plugin’s ZIP file.

Hi where is 7.01? You said you’d post it on Thursday evening

    Thanks

JimHeskett, just released it! We had one other issue to address. A user was having a problem when they entered statistics redirects that did not end with a slash /.

If you do not see the update in your manage plugins page, go to PowerPress > Tools menu. On the PowerPress Tools page click the option titled “Clear Plugins Update Cache” (this clears the internal cache in WordPress so it will re-check for plugin updates). Then go back into the plugins menu and the latest version of PowerPress should appear as update-able.

I see 7.0.1 available now from WP update page. I’ll be updating now and going back to my last episode to do the validation to do a sanity check.

    (5 min later…)

Yup. Everything is working as expected.

    Thanks.

I just want to follow up with everyone that PowerPress 7.0.1 update that we released over the weekend is no longer reporting the “Unable to determine file forma” error?

We appreciate your feedback! If you have a moment please leave our plugin a review, it is greatly appreciated! Thanks!
