Unable to edit media

  • For the last month and a half I have suddenly lost the ability to edit images in wordpress. I get the broken image icon instead of my image preview.

    I checked my functions.php for loose php tags. but cant seem to find the problem.

  • There are a number of things that may be causing your issue. Try deactivating all plugins. If that resolves the issue, reactivate each one individually until you find the cause.

    If that does not resolve the issue, try switching to the default theme for your version of WordPress to rule-out a theme-specific issue (theme functions can interfere like plugins).

    ok thanks, I shall try this.

    Changing the theme wouldn’t change my current themes default settings would it?

    It’s possible that deactivating the theme could cause some setting to change to default. Some themes have the option to export the options in an XML file. If I’m working with a theme with a lot of options, I make screen captures of all the options pages, just in case.
