Unable to edit or save any preferential changes

I learned that “the dawn” theme I was using was no longer compatible with WordPress and would have to choose a new theme. I chose Parabola. Activated it. And we can’t get anything to work; can’t change the sliders under the presentation tab without getting an error, can’t configure social media, it won’t save the information, can’t edit anything. What could be the problem?
