hello. i just fixed my site, here’s my previous problem and what i had to do to get it fixed. now that my site is up, i’m having problems editing pages. when i click from the Visual to Text tabs, nothing happens. i take that back — the only thing that happens is when i click on Text to move to that tab, the Text text turn red when i click and it has a red outline around the tab, like it’s recognizing that i’m clicking it, but literally nothing else happens.

almost the same thing happens when i click “Add Media”. it doesn’t change color though, the only thing that changes is a # appears at the end of the URL in the address bar.

i know it’ll be difficult to know exactly what’s wrong without seeing the back end coding, i’m guessing, but has anyone ever seen this before and what did you do to resolve it? once again, i’m very new to this kind of thing, i know next to nothing about coding, but i’m veeery slowly learning!!

thank you for taking the time out of your day to help me with this, you all are wonderful!! ??

  • Have you tried:

    – deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem. If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).

    – switching to the default theme to rule out any theme-specific problems.

resetting the plugins folder by FTP or PhpMyAdmin. Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.

    – re-uploading all files & folders – except the wp-content folder and wp-config.php & root .htaccess files – from a fresh download of WordPress. Make sure that you delete the old copies of files & folder before uploading the new ones.

nope. it wasn’t a plugin, it wasn’t the theme, i tried doing a fresh install of wordpress and now my site doesn’t even come up. i did make a backup of my files and i tried moving the backup files back and still nothing. i don’t understand why this keeps happening.

Try checking your site’s error logs for messages. Your hosts should be able to help you accessing your site’s error logs.

i got my site to come back up, the permissions didn’t stay the way they were.

the latest error in the error log says “file does not exist” and it goes through a file path that leads to a theme that i don’t even use. before that are errors like this:
