• Hello everyone,

I want to fix the wordpress website of a friend that is installed on a OVH shared hosting plan.

The first thing I noticed is that everything (WordPress, plugins, templates) installed is out of date, but the update page of the backoffice doesn’t show any updates available.

After enabling errors in WordPress, it show me multiple time in the update.php page of the backoffice : “WordPress could not establish a secure connection to www.ads-software.com. Please contact your server administrator.) in /home/username/public_html/wp-admin/includes/update.php on line XXX”

Online I cant see a solution for this probleme on shared hostings… When I moved my website to localhost, the update page worked fine, so I think I can say that the problem is with the hosting provider (OVH) ?

Thanks in advance for your help !

I agree. My advice is to contact OVH and ask if there are any outbound IP blocks for https, and if the version of openSSL installed on the server is up to date.

    Thanks for your help !
I’ve just did that, but their support is not known for being quick to reply, hope I get lucky !

I noticed the website had some mixed content issues, do you think that can be the cause of my problem, and will fixing mixed content resolve the insecure connection to WordPress ?

Thanks again for your help !

No, the mixed content is a separate issue.
