'Unable to fetch the feed' error

I’ve just installed and configured the plugin but instead of nice list of my latest post I’m getting only the error message:
Unable to fetch the feed Error: This XML document is invalid, likely due to invalid characters. XML error: Invalid character at line 244, column 23 RSS Feed currently unavailable.Since the plugin bases on RSS I tried to preview the “regular” RSS feed of my page (https://www.facebook.com/feeds/page.php?id=239993256101857&format=rss20) and it works, however the regional characters are not displayed correctly ??
Can this be the reason the plugin fails to work? Is there any way to overcome it?https://www.ads-software.com/extend/plugins/fbf-facebook-page-feed-widget/
