Thanks for letting me know about this error. I think our server may be blocking the files from being pulled from the site during the import. I will look into a solution, and for now, any images from the demo site can be saved and uploaded to your test site manually.

There are so many images on your site (which is a good thing), so it will take forever to get images one-by-one and save it on the site.. kindly please look into it and plz let me know once this issue is resolved… Thanks sooo much for wonderful theme… Looking forward to premium purchase.

Not sure if this will help, but please try downloading this image-only version of the demo export, and let me know if this works for you: https://screenshot.competethemes.com/d5uW4nzr

Hello Ben, can you please tell me where can I find widget setting for Mission News theme. I want to make the appearance of the website just like shown in here https://demo.competethemes.com/?theme=Mission+News

    (@bensibley)

Hmm the widgets should have been added automatically – sorry that wasn’t the case!

The main thing you want to do is add the “Recent Posts Extended” widget to both the left and right sidebars. This widget has a lot of options, but at the bottom, there’s a style choice. The left widget uses Style 1 and the right widget uses Style 2.

I think that should get you moving in the right direction, but let me know if you need any further guidance.

I’m having the same issue as above. Xml file does not import.

I think this is happening because there are a large number of images included in the export, and depending on the hosting environment, the server can timeout and quit the import before it’s finished. In which case, all of the posts, pages, comments, and menus will be imported, but none of the images.

Please try this modified version of the import file with the images only which may speed things up enough to complete: download image import file. If this still doesn’t work, let me know and I’ll try further modifications.

I have the content now but, site still does not look like demo.

Okay glad to hear the rest of the import worked.

You likely just need to customize the widgets now. If you visit the Appearance > Widgets menu, you can add the Recent Posts Extended widget into the left and right sidebar areas which is what the demo site uses. Sometimes WordPress will automatically include some widgets in another widget area (very annoying) and removing those will help the site look more like the demo.

The Getting Started guide comprehensively covers all the steps to set up Mission News: https://support.competethemes.com/help/getting-started-mission-news/

I’m trying to edit the templates but can’t figure out which files are loading to create the front page and post page.

    (@bensibley)

Check the Settings > Reading menu. There is an option there that will either set the homepage to display your latest posts, or you’ll manually select pages for your homepage and posts.

I want to customize the actual templates.

Which files makeup the front page and which files makes up a page, and a post?
