When I try to import events using a csv file, I get an error –

The following fields are required for a successful import:
    Event Start Date

However, the preview clearly shows that the start date is populated. It also work fine on another of our sites using the same csv file. Both are running ver 6.0.0.1, neither have been upgraded to the new database. The only difference is that the events page is created on this site in this site using Block Editor, in the working site, it is still classic editor.

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

    Hi @daveatcos,

Apologies for the delay here as we are experiencing a higher load in support.

We recently released version 6.0.1, could you try updating it and see if the issue still persists?

Moreover, I’m curious what plugin are you using to import Event Data?

    Please do keep me posted.

    Best,
    Abz

Hi Abz, apologies for the delay in replying

We are now using 6.0.1.1 and the issue still exits.

As far as I can see the import is being done (or attempted) via The Events Calendar own import facility rather than a seperate plugin.

Hi @daveatcos, no worries, and sorry to hear about this. I see, the CSV Import tool is included with The Events Calendar.

The following fields are required for a successful import:
    Event Start Date

I suspect it could be the format, would be good to retry the migration. I’d suggest reverting back to the old version of the plugin pre-v6.0 and then trying migrating it with the event data.

Please test it out on a staging site before trying it out on your main website.

Let me know how it goes.

    Abz

    Hi Abz

I don’t believe it is a format issue as the same csv imports fine on our main site and has done so for all previous versions of The Events Calendar. Both sites are currently running 6.0.1.1

The site where the problem exists is our test site and I need to get a lot of data into it in order to test the migration to the new database. I have never tried a csv import into this site before recently, so I have to assume that it has probably never worked on this site.

I have retried the same csv and other csv files several times, the same result

    Regards

    Hi @daveatcos,

Thanks for confirming, it seems like you haven’t tried the CSV import before. Let’s see.

In the test site, could you try installing this extension and get the test data → https://theeventscalendar.com/extensions/test-data-generator/. This is an automated tool to generate high-quality, life-like data. In this way, you could test it out.

Let me know how it goes.

    Hi Abz

I have used the test data generator and that was successful.

However, I have now found the cause of the problem. When I tried importing the csv files again, I noted in the preview window that some of the fields were set to “Do not import” at the dropdown and populating those fixed it.

Apologies for my not noticing this before and thank you for all your efforts in trying to help me fix the issue which can now be closed.

    Best wishes
