Unable to install stat/tracking plugins through dashboard

  • I am having trouble trying to install any tracking or stat plugins through the Dashboard. I just upgraded to WP 3.0.1 today and was able to activate some of my old plugins and upgrade and activate others, but none of the stat plugins worked. I tried getting new ones, and on each one I’ve received something similar to the following:

    Downloading install package from https://downloads.www.ads-software.com/plugin/statsurfer.zip…

    Unpacking the package…

    Could not create directory. /public_html

    I get the same error message with StatPress 1.4.1 as well as other plugins.

    I’ve changed my permissions to allow writing but it doesn’t seem to help. Any suggestions? Thanks.
