• Good Morning,

    I am having an issue connecting the plugin to my MailChimp account. I have (in the last few days) had the plugin up and running perfectly. However, yesterday, my colleague decided to change the MailChimp Password and instantly, the plugin stopped working.

    Thinking this was just an issue with the MailChimp password change my colleague did, I logged into WordPress, went into the mailchimp set up settings page, clicked logout in the plugin settings and tried connecting with the new correct password.

    I get the following error when I try logging in:

    {“result”:”error”,”response”:”an error occurred: We received an unexpected error: null”}

    Thinking there may be a file somewhere in the plugin that is still trying to use the old password, I decided to completely remove the plugin via FTP and reinstall. The same error message persists.

    Thinking there may be an issue with MailChimp “authorised applications”, I tried logging into the MailChimp account, removed the existing “Social Proxy for MailChimp”, refreshed the page and tried connecting again. The same error message persists. It did however, connect on some level to MailChimp as the Social Proxy for MailChimp got re-added after I tried loggging in.

    Thinking well, it has been set up before (three days ago), this can’t be a problem with my hosting company, I decided to try it on my own website, hosted on my own personal hosting server. The same error message persists.

    Any idea what is causing the issue / How to fix it?

    P.S. I have also tried connecting to another MailChimp account on both my personal website and the website that there was a password change on. This is also having the same issues.

    I too am having this problem with several of my sites. Any ideas yet?

    Same issue on my website:
    MailChimp plugin for WordPress version 1.4.1

    I’ve had to change the login details:
    I click on Settings > MailChimp Settings, then “Connect”.
    It opens a popup window asking for my MailChimp account, once I click on “Log In” I get the error:
    {“result”:”error”,”response”:”an error occurred: We received an unexpected error: null”}

    ACtually, this self corrected just the other day. Fixed on my sites.

    Hi Mike,

    Thanks for hopping in the forum. I can definitely understand the concern here. For us to dig into this, we will need a little more information. I tested changing the password on a MailChimp account and wasn’t able to replicate the issue you’re seeing.

    You mentioned that you’ve tried it in a few different environments, are there any common plugins between these environments? Sometimes other plugins, like firewall plugins, can interfere with the connection between the site and MailChimp. Could you temporarily disable all plugins except the MailChimp plugin then try to log in again? Also try to clear the cache and cookies in your browser, this can help clear out local browser issues, trying another browser can also help.

    If those options aren’t working can you send a link to your MailChimp list’s hosted signup form? Send that to wordpress[at]mailchimp[dot]com This page from the MailChimp Knowledge base can help with finding that link: https://kb.mailchimp.com/article/how-do-i-share-my-signup-form#url

    We look forward to hearing from you!

    Hi Edolmen,

    Thanks for hopping in the forum. It’s best if we keep issues separate, would you mind starting a new post for your issue. Include as many details as possible and the steps you’ve taken so far to resolve it. Having a separate post makes it easier for us to address your specific issue.

    Thanks!

    hello, now it is seems to work fine on my websites. I was able to login through the mailchimp plugin. Probably it was due to a connection problem on the server.

    Hey edolmen!
    Glad to hear you got that working ??

    Let us know if you have any questions!
