Please help. I cannot log into my wordpress dashboard. Tells me my username/password is incorrect and I know it is not! I’ve asked for password to be reset, but is still waiting for the email ….. 24 hours later!

I got an email telling me that wordpress has been updated. I can still log into my cpanel without problems.

    What to do??

Try resetting your password directly in the Dashboard: https://codex.www.ads-software.com/Resetting_Your_Password#Through_phpMyAdmin

Thanks for this, but I’m either too blond or to stupid to get it right.

At this stage I am even confused as to which user name to use. Due to the site being hacked, I put a whole lot of security measures in place, and now I’m totally confused. Everything was fine, but since WordPress updated, my problems started!

I now asked my service provider to come to my rescue! Hope they will be able to sort this out!!

I think James was meaning for you to reset your password in your cPanel. Login to your hosting account and find phpMyAdmin. Use the info in James’ link to reset your password.

Be careful, there is no “Undo” in phpMyAdmin. You will be working with live data.

Exactly what I mean, yes. ??

You’ll be working around WordPress and actually setting a new password directly in the database.

That’s what I did, but I still don’t get in. I reset the password in phpMyAdmin, but as I say, I don’t even know which Username I must use to login any more, because I have a user_login, user_nicename and display_name.

Now, my “common-sense” tell me to use the “user_nicename”, because that is the name I always used, but it is not working!

That’s why I rather email the webhosting technical support, because I am now really stuck!!

It’s user_login and is detailed in the above link.
