• Hey guys, I have a big problem.

    Since 2 days I’m unable to login to my wp site. Also I can’t even reset my password for it. The site itself works perfectly but I can’t login to the wp dashboard to make changes and post new things.

    When I try to login it says 404 Not Found – File not found and in the adressbar I get “my ip/wp-login.php”

    Does anyone know what may be the problem?

    Do you have FTP or Cpanel access to the files?

    If so disable the plugins by renaming the plugin folders and then try logging in.

    I have just tried that with no result.

    It’s strange, after I press login it tries to connect to my own IP then it gives me this error:

    “The connection has timed out

    The server at <my ip> is taking too long to respond.”

    I was having the same problem then I removed the .php after wp-login and it let me log into admin.

    I’m suddenly unable to reach the log in screen either. The site works fine, but the URL with /wp-admin doesn’t let me access the site as an admin or log in. Removing .php didn’t work for me.

    It worked as of yesterday but just had the same problem again. Very strange.

    If the problem is sporadic, it is most likely due to the server being overloaded. Check with Bluehost.

    Bluehost is now owned by the same company that owns Hostgator. Hostgator’s service and uptime has suffered greatly after the new ownership took over. It might be that Bluehost is following the same path. With hosting you really get what you pay for, and I’ve found the cheap hosts just aren’t worth it.

    Thanks Matt, I think it might be time to say goodbye to Bluehost. I appreciate the help!
