• I am having the problem referred to at https://www.ads-software.com/support/topic/turns-on-maths-captcha-that-does-not-work?replies=7#post-

When I try to log in to my website, I am presented with a CAPTCHA saying “Please solve this math problem to prove that you are not a bot. Once you solve it, you will need to log in again. Prove your humanity:”

However, solving the captcha solves nothing, just reloads the page and gives me a new captcha. Accordingly, I am presently logged out of my website.

The solutions suggested by “happiness engineer” (ehh….) Jeremy Herve at the above-mentioned URL (suggestions found at https://jetpack.me/support/security-features/#unblock ) do not work for me because two of the suggested three solutions require of me to have access to WP Dashboard (which I do not have at the moment) while the third advises me to solve the problem via wordpress.com – where my self-hosted site has not been located for more than 4 years.

In a second reply in the above-mentioned thread, Jeremy Herve suggests to “use FTP or Cpanel to delete the Jetpack folder from your plugins folder on the server”.

I never had a situation before that forced me to use FTP or Cpanel, and I hardly know what any of them actually are, as I am not any technically savvy. So my question is: Exactly what should I do, step by step, to “use FTP or Cpanel” to solve this most damaging problem?

I should add that my website is a paysite with subscribers having paid to have updates. Being unable to deliver is severely damaging for my entire business. Therefore, I kindly ask you to provide me with a clear way out of the current catastrophic mess. Thank you so much.

I recommend asking at https://www.ads-software.com/support/plugin/jetpack#postform so the plugin’s developers and support community can help you with this.

Hey there, I’m the “Happiness Engineer” from the original thread.

the third advises me to solve the problem via wordpress.com – where my self-hosted site has not been located for more than 4 years.

Although your site is not hosted on WordPress.com, once you connect Jetpack to your WordPress.com account you can then manage some of the options of your site directly from WordPress.com: you’ll be able to access stats, access a list of your posts and pages, publish new posts, and change settings like your Security settings. Give it a try, log in to your WordPress.com account and go to this page: https://wordpress.com/sites
You’ll see a list of all your sites, whether they’re hosted on WordPress.com or hosted somewhere else and connected to WordPress.com via Jetpack.

Another alternative is to try the third option on that page. It doesn’t require you to access your WordPress dashboard.

Exactly what should I do, step by step, to “use FTP or Cpanel” to solve this most damaging problem?

Your site, medjugorjetoday.tv, is hosted with Bluehost. Bluehost allows you to access, edit, and delete files from its “File Manager”, so you won’t need to learn how to use an FTP client.

You can find out how to use the File Manager here:
    https://my.bluehost.com/cgi/help/file_manager
    https://my.bluehost.com/cgi/help/2238

You can use the File Manager to try the solution I mentioned here, or to whitelist your IP address as mentioned in the third alternative here.

    I hope this helps.

If you have trouble accessing the File Manager, your hosting provider should be able to help.

If you still experience issues after trying some of the solutions I mentioned above, do not hesitate to start a new thread in the Jetpack Support forums, as James mentioned above. You can also post again here, I’ll get a notification.

    Thanks!
