unable to login or access admin page

  • Hi all,

    Tried to login to my site at fossenet.co.uk today and am unable to get in to the admin area.

    Clicking the admin link resolves to the home page and going direct to wp-login does the same.

    The problem is the same in Firefox and Chrome and I’ve emptied browser caches. File permissions are appropriate (644 or 755 depending).

    After seeing another post I tried deleting the .htaccess file but that has not fixed it.

    The site is on the Catalyst framework.

    It’s a few days since I worked on the site so I’m not sure what has happened in the meantime.

    Any ideas?

  • Sure there is something wrong with your site.

    Did you login with fossenet.co.uk/wp-admin … if it is going to home page then it may have not found your wp-login.php file.

    and did you use fossenet.co.uk/wp-login.php to login in instead of fossenet.co.uk/wp-login ?

    looks like you do not have wp-login.php file

    Did you delete any files lately?

    Just an update. Fossenet is now back online.

    This was a permalinks problem which I fixed by going into PHPMyAdmin and removing the pretty link option in the database. That then restored all functionality to the site and it now has pretty permalinks again.

    A frightening time but all now fixed.

    No idea whether it was to do with this plugin or not, but I’m using another solution just in case!
