Unable to make changed Site Address work

  • I have changed WP_HOME in wp-config.php using method 1 (edit wp-config.php) from this codex article.

    As the result link addresses are broken.

    WP_HOME is set to mydomain.com/home (visible as Site Address in General Settings).
    WP_SITEURL is set to mydomain.com/wordpress (visible as WordPress address in General Settings.

    Home page of my site is still available <visible> at mydomain.com/wordpress. All other links, including the link from ‘home’ icon start with mydomain.com/home (this is what I wanted) and are broken.

    I have WordPress running on Synology (if it changes something). I have rebooted my Synology, to clean up caches, etc.

    How can I make the new Site Address work? From the linked article I understood that all the methods are roughly equivalent, so I chose – for the start – the simplest one.

    BTW, am I the only one who finds the above WP_HOME, WP_SITEURL and their descriptions confusing?
