Unable to post comments

    Hi. Just started using WordPress today and I’ve run into a bit of a snag.

    A friend of mine posted a comment to my first post, I posted a comment in reply, and now neither of us can post comments while logged out. We can go to the comment page, but it seems like an a tag is broken (the entire comment text is a link). Clicking inside the textbox to type makes the page jump and deselects it, so typing in it is impossible. If I login, I can post comments just fine.

    I have it set so users can post comments without registering, but that doesn’t seem to have an effect. Is it not retroactive?

  • No, it’s not retroactive.
    Go into admin panel > Manage > Comments… and edit the comments to make it “normal” ??

    Okay. I just tried it with another post, just created, all my options set up. I logged out, posted a comment, and that went fine. When I tried to click in the textbox again to post a second comment, the same thing happened.

    Is only one comment allowed per IP without registering or something? What am I missing?

    Ah-ha! I do believe I’ve fixed it. Seems there was a missing tag to end the URL for the comment number… I added it and it seems to be working fine. Barring anything else cropping up, I think this is taken care of. =D

    Yep, now is better, though you still have a small problem. The small “dot”-like thingy between the commenters name and the comment should display the date AND a permalink to that comment.

    If you hover over it it shows the date, and it’s linked to the comment itself. Why it doesn’t actually show it, I don’t know. That’s how the template came to me. I may change it myself.
