• Just got my first comments on my new site but I can’t respond to them. I’m trying to respond via the Comments tab.

I can write the response, but when I click on the ‘reply,’ the only thing that happens is a little red ‘0’ appears in the middle of the line between the ‘cancel’ and ‘reply.’

Please, how can I turn on the ‘reply’ feature, or fix what’s wrong here?

    Thanks,

    Dayna

  • Hi Dayna,

I’d suggest deactivating all of your plugins and trying it again. If it works, you know it’s a plugin problem. If it does work after deactivating your plugins, you’ll need to activate them one-by-one, all the while retrying to reply to comments. It’s tedious, I know, but the best way to figure out who the troublemaker is ??

Ah! The universal cure-all. It’s right up there with if you’ve got something strange happening on the computer, the universal cure all is to do a reboot (restart).

    I will try it …

    Thanks

Finally got to try the deactivate the plugins – no change. Still can’t respond to comments.

    What theme are you using?

Weaver II – this is a brand new installation. I’m having my ‘Grand Opening’ right now, and expect I will get a lot of comments … and I can’t respond to them. Not a good thing!!!

Have you confirmed that the comments settings in Settings>Discussion are set correctly? Including the “Enable Threaded Comments” checkbox?

    Is it the pro theme?

What is the url of your site?

    Settings appear to be correct.
This is not the Pro edition of Weaver II

I was not able to reproduce this error locally and I could not reproduce it on your site.

Well, apparently you broke a floodgate or something. I just tried to respond to one of the comments and it worked!

So, thank you very much! I don’t know what you did, but I tried when the last comment came in (9:40 AM) and it wouldn’t process the reply.

I’m really happy it wasn’t anything major – what I’ve been through with this site so far …

    Thanks again.

    Dayna
