In an earlier support message you said https://www.ads-software.com/support/topic/category-filters-not-working-properly/ that by clicking icons in the Gallery page one could insert data from the original image metadata. However, I don’t seem to be able to save any of these changes… (I’ve tried Go Save and Select, but they don’t seem to work for me.)

A related question: Is there a way to automatically load image metadata, e.g., Credit for Name, Description for Title, etc?

Another related question, re EXIF tags: Is there any way to customize these (e.g., metadata tags)? One example: for focal length, is there a way to use the 35mm full frame equivalent for focal length? Does Contest Gallery use ExifTool?

  • Hi John,

“I don’t seem to be able to save any of these changes”
<<< Please update to the newest version just released 10.9.7.4.1.
    It might be resolved there.
If it still does not work then I would need a temporary backend access to investigate it. You can send me the data to [email protected]

    <<< That is not possible

    Relating EXIF DATA:
EXIF data will be automaticly taken from picture if is available in the picture and can be displayed in frontend. Displaying EXIF data in frontend is generally activated when you create new gallery:

Here is an example of image with exif data:

Thank you; 10.9.7.4.1 solves the problem of saving data changes in the Gallery.

Regarding EXIF data, using the ‘Show EXIF data’ option does display a useful set of camera data. The reason I asked about customizing the EXIF tags was that, for example, the default tag for focal length shows the camera’s focal length (which is fine), but creates some issues comparing focal length for full-frame v crop sensor images.

Regarding automatically assigning image metadata, perhaps you could consider this a feature request. It would make uploading images quicker and simpler if the person uploading could use information already in the image to fill in Name and Title, rather than having to type in that information.

Good to know what it is about. Maybe EXIF data should be editable in future. I will put it on task list.

    Both suggest are great.
Thank you for participation! It helps a lot!
