Unable to save, preview and publish Web Stories

    When I enter the create or edit mode on web stories, I am able to make some changes. When hovering over the save, preview and publish options, I get an error that says “saving currently disabled due to media being uploaded.” This message persists, even after waiting 10+ minutes. I am unable to save changes to drafts or completely new web stories started from scratch.

    Since it indicates “media being uploaded” I had assumed it would resolve after a few minutes, once media loaded. The error message never goes away. The save/preview/publish fields remain greyed out no matter how long I wait. I’ve been able to publish in the past and have the most updated versions of WordPress (Current version: 5.8.2) and Web Stories (Version 1.14.0).

  • Hello @ncweisss thanks for reaching out. Sorry to hear you’re having issues with this. To help you with your issue please could you provide the following:

    1. Your Site Health information or privately via this form.
    2. Have you recently selected to optimize any media you’ve added to a Web Story and if so did this issue start after this?
    3. Do you have any console errors while in the Web Stories editor?

    Once we have this information we can assist you further.
