Using the latest version of the plugin (1.4 – just installed today).

I believe I’ve walked through the setup process correctly. When I try entering in a keyword and click on the “search” button, nothing happens.

Opening up console, I see this error:

Uncaught TypeError: Cannot read property 'selection' of null
        at aalb_get_selected_text_from_editor (aalb_admin.js?ver=4.7.1:23)
        at aalb_admin_show_create_shortcode_popup (aalb_admin.js?ver=4.7.1:4)
        at HTMLAnchorElement.onclick (post.php?post=24590&action=edit:644)

Issue seems to be with the *aalb_admin.js* file. I’ve tried deactivating plugins, trying to see if something was interfering, but no love. Any advice on next steps to continue troubleshooting?

  • Same problem here! The search function doesn’t work.

Me too – The search function doesn’t work.

My solution was to ensure the Page editor must be in the VISUAL MDOE – not the text mode.

Worked fine after the was was changed to VISUAL

    TY

@dee-lete: Interesting. Thanks for sharing this info.

But I’d definitely prefer working in text instead of visual mode. Plus: Half of the window that opens is outside my monitor. Hence working with the plugin is still pretty lame. :/

    Hi,

Search works properly in Visual Mode of the wordpress post editor. We will fix the issue with next plugin update.

Visual mode is recommended for amazon text links. ??

    Nice, thanks for your answer.
How about the issue that a part of the plugin window is outside the visible area? I mean the window that opens after the search is done (in the backend/visual editor, not the final result in the frontend). Is it only me who’s got this problem? Is it an incompatibility with some other plugin?
    Thanks in advance.

I just recognized the same problem and found this answer quite quickly. I even didn’t realised that I was working in text mode. ?? Now, that I know the solution, it’s not a big deal.

    Hi,

We’ve fixed the issue of Search Button not working when the post-editor is initialized in text mode. Please upgrade to the latest v1.4.1.

However, visual mode is recommended for amazon text links. ??
