Unable to see subdirectories

Hello

I mounted a Samba share as /var/www/html/wp-content/uploads/user_upload for my school project. I need to be able to see subdirectores because software I’m using can’t write directly in to the user’s directory. I tried uploading a picture, did a chown www-data:www-data to see if that would help but that won’t even show up. Only stuff that’s been uploaded directly.

How do I change it so it can see the subdirectories in there?

Website is being hosted on Ubuntu 16.04.
