Unable to share site contents to Facebook

  • Hi all,

    I’m using a theme provided by Premium press. Within the theme there are share buttons built in for the usual FB, Twitter, Insta Etc.

    The trouble is they all work except for FB. If I click the share to Facebook button I get a Facebook page loading with no content and an error message stating “href should represent a valid URL”

    I contacted my theme support Dev and his reply was “Facebook – I have no idea about Facebook link requirements. You would need to contact their help team as we can only provide support for our theme designs.”

    Ive tried to find a way to contact FB for this issue without any luck, I have also read a lot of posts on here after searching for the same error message but they all seem to relate to specific sharing plugins so no help to me.

    Any ideas folks? ??

    Thanks for the reply. After using the inspect tool in Firefox I noticed that the link being sent to Facebook wasn’t complete. It was sending https://www.facebook.com/sharer.php?u=//ww missing the rl from url. Ive edited the file now to include the rl and would you believe it its not working but apparently its Facebook’s side. I get a new error page from FB saying “Sorry, something went wrong and we are trying to fix this”
