Hi. I haven't used Wordfence for a few years now and recently I deleted a set of data no longer required from the host server, which I manage.
However, now I've started receiving alerts to my domain email address. [email protected]
I don't have that email address configured on the server, but it comes into my inbox anyway. Here's the header code below, to see if it helps anyone who can offer me any advice on how to stop this email being generated and sent to me. Thanks

Hi @toprobroy, thanks for getting in touch.

Wordfence emails are sent out from your site’s server rather than directly from us although if you’ve used Wordfence Central with this site in the past, you’ll need to disconnect the domains from there to stop receiving alerts.

If you were only running the Wordfence plugin on your site without Central, we have seen this occur where customers moved hosts or migrated to a new server but the old version of their site was still active somewhere. It’s odd to hear it happen after a number of years unless some files were recently reinstated from a backup or moved to a folder that can still run and execute as if it were live.

If possible, removing /wp-content/plugins/wordfence from your live site or any backup/alternative folders could help. You could also try restarting postfix or sendmail (whichever is installed) to see if any unwanted instructions can be cleared.

    Thanks,
    Peter.

Thanks for this. I think I’ve managed to stop this now from your advice.
