Unable to Tag Multiple Items

In past versions I have been able to select multiple items (images or PDFs, etc.) and then check the boxes to assign media category to all of them at once. Now it does not work! When I select multiple items and then check a media category box it only checks the box for the last item I clicked. Any ideas on what is wrong? Thanks!
Note: I opened a support ticket 3 days ago but have not received a reply yet.
