Unable to Turn on 3 Jetpack Features

    Hello,

    I am getting the following error messages when I tried to turn on 3 Jetpack features for my website:

    Jetpack Feature: Comments
    Error: Comments failed to activate. SyntaxError: Invalid character
    Comments were on before updating to WordPress 4.7

    Jetpack Feature:Enable Portfolio Projects for this site.
    Error: Error updating Custom Content Types settings. SyntaxError: Invalid character

    Jetpack Feature: Infinite Scroll
    Error: Infinite Scroll failed to activate. SyntaxError: Invalid character

    Could anyone help?

    It seems that WordPress’ REST API is currently disabled on your site:
    https://theoff.info/Adventure-Travel/wp-json/

    As a result, you won’t be able to use the new Jetpack admin interface, as it relies on the API to update settings for each one of the module.

    Do you use a plugin to disable the API, or a caching plugin that may cache all requests to that page and return a 404?

    If you can’t think of anything that blocks access to the API on your site, could you contact your hosting provider and ask them if they currently block access to the API?

    Until you find what’s causing the issue, you can use the old Settings interface to activate or deactivate modules on your site:
    https://theoff.info/Adventure-Travel/wp-admin/admin.php?page=jetpack_modules

    I should also mention that your site is really slow right now. It might be worth looking into, as some of your potential readers may not wait that long for your site to load.

    Currently I have used old settings as suggested by you.
    I will share the names of troublemakers with you if I am able to identify them.

    i have a similar issue:

    Contact Form failed to activate. SyntaxError: JSON.parse: unexpected character at line 1 column 1 of the JSON data

    the workaround page=jetpack_modules works

    @airdrummer The REST API appears to be disabled on your site as well:
    https://toms.homeunix.net/bostoncamerata.org/index.php/wp-json/

    This is most likely caused by your setup and your specific permalink structure. I’d recommend follow the instructions I posted above to find out more about what’s causing the issue on your site.
