There’s a lot to unpack because I’ve been dealing with this issue for a few weeks. Just like @wpuser1234 at https://www.ads-software.com/support/topic/unable-to-update-database-6-6-1-6-7/ — I’ve tried all the various “solutions” like deleting the transients, expired transients, solving various other small issues with plugins, running the database update from the top notification, and from WooCommerce tools directly, etc.

Despite all that, here’s where I am now:
1) I have verified with the hosting company (LiquidWeb/Nexcess) that the WP-CRON is running correctly and accurately, every 5 minutes.
2) I have manually triggered the database update in WooCommerce Tools multiple times. The woocommerce_db_version option in wp_options, still says 6.6.1
3) Clicking on the “Update database” option, created 5 (sometimes 6) new “pending” items that never go away. I currently have 924 pending entries.
4) I’ve put in a ticket at Nexcess to get help (pretty much worthless as they keep referring me to WooCommerce) which I am including the content of below as I see no way to include the TXT file I put together for you.

In the video I did for Nexcess (https://www.screencast.com/t/QYdZIZfix49J) I stated I didn’t believe the CRON jobs are running, and they’ve sent verified they are. I now suspect that CRON is failing, even though nothing is showing up in the logs about that failure.

ANY HELP you can provide would be great appreciated. Again, I can’t find where to insert my system report, but I stand ready to send that if you can tell me how.

THEIR “RESOLUTION” TO THE TICKET ENDED WITH:
This issue seems to be that Woocommerce is stuck updating the database, until that process completes or is successful.

Has the mentioned 8 old cron jobs have not ran and where is this being seen ( Admin Panel )?

Since the cron was previously updated are the cron jobs now running normally?

Thanks for checking. Just FYI, even though I requested notifications to my email address ([email protected]) not a single email has been received. Yes, checked SPAM. I have special filters that allow support tickets from designated providers through.

Having said that, I checked and I still have 8 jobs more than 24 hours old that haven’t run yet.

Hello @cenay,

We’re going to need more information to understand this.

Could you please share a copy of your site’s System Status? You can find it via WooCommerce > Status. Select “Get system report” and then “Copy for support”.? Once you’ve done that, paste it here in your response.
Also, please check the fatal error logs (if any) from WooCommerce > Status > Logs and choose from the drop-down menu the fatal-errors.log`
You can also download this plugin to make sure Cron is working properly.

2) I’ve checked the fatal errors log and there appears to be nothing related to Woo in there. (I did find a couple of errors related to my backup plugin which I am working to resolve.
3) I’ve verified the CRON jobs are firing correctly with the host. They run every 5 minutes.

I didn’t notice anything that could cause such a problem. This could be just a plugin or theme conflict.
?
The best way to determine this is to:

Temporarily switch your theme to Storefront
Disable all plugins except for WooCommerce
Repeat the action that is causing the problem

If you’re not seeing the same problem after completing the conflict test, then you know the problem was with the plugins and/or theme you deactivated. To figure out which plugin is causing the problem, reactivate your other plugins one by one, testing after each until you find the one causing the conflict. You can find a more detailed explanation of how to do a conflict test here.

It took a while to debug this, but for any looking into this issue as well.. I did as suggested and one at a time deactivated plugins and tried the database update between each one. I eventually found the one that was blocking me, and the database updated.

PITA if you ask me. Thanks for all the help.
