I need to update the email address that was entered in General Options. Whenever I select that field, I get an error message that reads:

    ____
In an effort to combat spam, we require that this email address match your domain name.
    _____

I am not trying to change the domain only the user name (from jim to james) I am not able to even select the text. I am trying to change the address to the address of the administrator.

Can anyone explain what it going on and how I can fix this? I have tried going to the /wp-admin/options.php pagem but I get the same message. thee must be someway to update this address!

Thanks for any clues to this mystery!

  • Don’t believe that message is a native WordPress message so maybe take a look at deactivating a plugin.

That fixed it! I have no idea which plugin was the problem. Itired deactivating them one at a time, but the address was not editable,

So then I deactivated them all (with the deactivate all command at the bottom of the screen). . . and then was able to update the email address. I reactivated the ones I wanted, one at a time, to find the culprit. But could not find it.

when the problem first came up, I tried deactivated any that might have an email component, but couldn’t find the problem.

But at this point, I am so happy that I have it fixed!

    Thanks so much!
