Unable to upload media file

  • Hi all,

    This website has been running for years. Just found unable to upload file

    Add media
    -> Upload files
    -> Select Files

    UPLOADING
    world_1.jpeg
    Unable to create directory uploads/2023/04. Is its parent directory writable by the server?

    Upload folder: 755

    Unable to create 2023 folder

    Please help. Thanks

    This is very strange to me.

    On cPanel of the Hosting Company

    File Manager
    public_html
    -> website URL
    -> wp-content
    -> uploads
    only 2014 2015 2016 2017 2018 2019 2020 2021 folders are there.

    2022 and 2023 folders are missing.

    Performed following test;
    Manually create the folders
    Click -> Folder
    New Folder Name:
    2023 -> Create New Folder

    Again on 2023 folder, did the same creating 04 folder.

    Still I couldn’t upload file to ~/2023/04

    same warning:
    Unable to create directory uploads/2023/04. Is its parent directory writable by the server?

    This is a problem with hosting. Apparently the file and directory permissions are no longer correct. What WordPress roughly needs is documented here: https://developer.www.ads-software.com/advanced-administration/server/file-permissions/ – if you need help with this, it is best to contact your hoster’s support.
