Unable to Upload Media to Blog Posts – Error Message

  • I just updated to the 3.9.2 and ever since cannot upload media to my blog posts. When I go to upload a photo, I choose the photo and an red error message shows up saying ‘Error: An error occurred in the upload. Please try again later.’

    I am unable to see anything in the media library that shows up on the screen right after I upload, but if I click on the Media Library tab on the left panel it does show all of my images, including the ones that I’m trying to insert into a post. Unfortunately, I can’t insert them from there.

    Please help! I’m a photographer and depend on adding photos to my blog posts!

  • Try to disable all your plugins and try again.

    If that still doesn’t work change your theme to a WordPress default like 2014, 2013 and try again (leave your plugins OFF)

    Update: I use a ProPhoto wp theme and went through some troubleshooting on their site. I disabled all of the plugins and this didn’t change anything (good advice to narrow things down, @janet4now). I then activated a different theme and everything was normal, meaning that the problem is with my ProPhoto theme. I’ve contacted their support team and am not waiting on their response.

    I’ll keep you posted, just in case anyone else runs into this same problem.
