• “Participants” are unable to upload pictures when replying to an existing post in a forum. If they are making a NEW post in a forum, they can upload a picture just fine.

They see the “Add Media” button, and are able to choose a file from the local system to upload. The picture appears to upload (per the progress bar) but at the end it displays an (unhelpful) error message: “An error occurred in the upload. Please try again later.” (probably generated by WP, not the plugin)

    I’ve disabled all plugins, except

    – BuddyPress 2.0.1
    – bbPress 2.5.4

and of course this one (bbPress Enable TinyMCE Visual Tab 1.0.1).

    I have:
    Fancy editor full – UNchecked
Fancy editor media upload – Checked

My theme is BuddyBoss, and I’ve found no reports of an issue like this on their website.

I hope you can help me get this working. I love the plugin, and it’s really important that my users are able to upload pics from their computer, not just point to a URL.

    Thanks in advance!!

  • I had this problem too. Create a plugin (recommended) or add the code in the following link to your functions.php

    https://bbpress.org/forums/topic/solved-only-keymasters-admin-can-upload-images/

It describes what’s happening to cause the error, too. Hope this helps.

Thanks, I think it will help — and I actually read that article in my search for an answer — but I have the same question that went unanswered over a year ago: where does this snippet of code go? I can’t tell if we’re trying to modify this plugin, or a WP core file.

If you can explain, it would be great!! Thanks!

Also met such problem and tried to figure it out.

    I changed the role up to contributor, editor, admin but no use, the problem shouldn’t be related to wordPress roles;

and I changed the forum role up to Moderator, no use; only Keymaster works.

so it should be something with that capacity. sadfully I didn’t know much about PHPs.

besides, the solution @jrcdyer provided works, thanks.
