Unable to verify with google merchants

We would like to list our products on google through the merchant center and in order to verify our website they offer three options: adding HTML, verifying with google tag manager, and verifying with google analytics

Using this plugin, I can see on the analytics dashboard that data is being tracked. However, I’m unable to get the verification to work with the google analytics option or the google tag manager option.

I think with this plugin, I should be able to verify using google analytics. I have checked that my user has the required permissions (edit).

Can this plugin be used go verify with merchant center?
