    Hi,

The Review count automatically calculated is inferior to the actual number of reviews I imported (37 reviews imported, only 27 counted ; see screenCapture). Can you help me understand why and how to fix this ?

    Thanks in advance.

@graphozzie1068 The 27 here refers to the overall review count for your current location (i.e. the current Place ID) – so whatever you have set as your default location in the General section.

If you have more than one location or there is an issue with identifying existing reviews during the HTML Import process, then the number of reviews available in your catalogue will differ from the review count for the current place.

Update: I just checked your URL, and the current place has 41 reviews in total. Please go to Advanced, then click to Reset Cache to refresh the business data, including the overall review count.

Aaaargh, I cleared cache, as I understood you invited me, and now some tabs (Shortcodes and Reviews tabs) disappeared ! (Only General, Retrieved data, Advanced and About tabs remain visible) and I get an error message : “Your Google API Key is not valid for this request and permission is denied. Please check your Google API Key.”

@graphozzie1068 Sorry for the delay in my reply.

This would explain the lack of new data.

    Please check the following:

    1. Your billing details are current
    2. If you’ve changed hosting provider, please up the IP address of the web server in the API Key Restrictions.
    3. If all that is ok, there could be a problem storing the data itself. Try the option in the General section: Enable Sanitization, clearing emoticons from review data.

Once any alteration is made here, you may need to clear the cache to see a change.

Thanks for your answer. You write “This would explain the lack of new data”, so I suppose there may be a misanderstanding : I don’t use the synchronized mode, I “manually” import reviews.

(my problem was only a difference between the number of imported reviews and the count ; my screencapture may make this clearer, please have a look at it if you didn’t already : https://www.zachariepacey.com//stockweb/temp/capturecommentee.jpg)

Does this change any instructions you recommand to follow ?

    @graphozzie1068 Thanks for clarifying.

This plugin does require a functioning connection with the Google API, even if you set it to Never Synchronize (but you’ll only encounter a potential problem when you clear the cache).

Relying on just importing reviews will not update anything other than the reviews. The reviews in your catalogue will grow beyond what’s expected. The total reviews will use data provided by the Google API, not your review count.

Please try to re-establish the connection with the Google API by checking some of the points I mentioned. The Retrieved Data section will show an error message if there is a problem with the API.

Alternatively, you could hide the review count in the front end so it doesn’t highlight the discrepancy.
