unapproved comments showing to everyone

  • I’m using Paged Threaded Comments (not sure this is the problem, just FYI) and moderated comments are unfortunately showing to everyone in the world, not just the poster, even before they’re approved. An unapproved comment does announce “Your comment is awaiting moderation,” but this is misleading because it is actually published on the page already.

    In Discussion Settings “An administrator must always approve the comment ” is checked. I can’t find the code in the comments.php that would control this, any ideas?

  • Probably in Write > Post area panel, someone checked “Allow Comments” under Comments section. That would override your Discussion Settings for that certain post.

    Thanks Mercime, you’ve given me something to look at. Appreciate the direction! I’ll post back here if I get it resolved.
