    Hi Events Manager,

I just started using your plugin and loving the results! However, I noticed today that on my Submit an Event page, I see this message if not logged in:

    Unauthorized Access
You do not have the rights to manage this Event.

I checked my user capabilities and have the Anonymous Event submission checked with contributor access that allows users to add events and add recurring events. Any idea why I might be seeing this?

    Thank you,
    Katy

  • Hi Katy,

    Glad you’re enjoying the plugin.

Do you have that page set anywhere under Events > Settings > Pages > Other Pages?

    Hi Caimin,

I didn’t until now – thank you. I did select the “Submit Your Event” page as Edit Events page, but it still appears to be showing me the same message.

Ok, then other thing to check is that “Allow anonymous event submissions” is set to Yes under Events > Settings > General > General Options and that you have a user set for “Guest Default User” on the same page.

Lastly, make sure that the user role of the “Guest Default User” account has publish_events checked under Events > Settings > General > User Capabilities.

    Hi Caimin,

It appears that everything checks out, but maybe I’m not understanding the User Capabilities correctly. I have the anonymous contributors set as “Subscribers”. Here is a screenshot of their capabilities: https://imgur.com/HWaxvpe

    Does that all look right?

    Thank you,
    Katy

    maybe you can try this

    1. remove or disable you assigned under Events > Settings > Pages > Other Pages

    2. under the User capabilities option then subscriber role unchecked publish_events since this will allow them to publish events without admin approval but enable edit_events instead to allow them to submit or create events

    3. go to Events > Settings > General > Event Submission Forms > Anonymous event submissions > Allow anonymous event submissions =Yes

    4. create a dummy user with a subscriber role then assign it under > Guest Default User

    5. use shortcode [event_form] in your wp page

    Hi Angelo,

I went through all of those steps and it still doesn’t appear to be working ??

Is there a way to revert back to the default settings and start all over again?

    Thank you,
    Katy

There’s a Reset button under Events > Settings > General > Admin Tools.

Be sure to click Reset and not Uninstall (unless that’s really what you want to do..).

    Hi Caimin,

I have reset the settings and am still having the same problem: https://whatsupportagecounty.com/submit-your-event/. I did go back and review your recommendations, but still no luck. Do you have any other ideas?

    Thank you,
    Katy

    Hi Team,

I now see that the “Submit Your Event” page is working, but now the event calendar itself has disappeared: https://whatsupportagecounty.com/events/

Looks like that page needs to be set as “Events page” under Events > Settings > Pages > Event List/Archives.

Thank you! It looks like I had two “Events” pages, which was causing the mix-up. Hopefully, I just have one more question for you. Could you tell me how I could switch from the whole month Calendar View to the Events List view?

Never mind, we are all good! Thank you so much for all of your help ??
