I got the error “There has been a critical error on this website”. The website uses Cartflows, so I had to disable Uncanny Automator to have the error go away. On checking the error log, here is what I found:
PHP Fatal error: Uncaught Error: Call to undefined method Uncanny_Automator\Twitter_Helpers::textarea_field() in /home/winocbux/winorwinacademy.com/wp-content/plugins/uncanny-automator/src/integrations/twitter/actions/twitter-poststatus-2.php:59

Could you please look into this…

Hi @dagenius20 , sorry to hear about the issue, but thanks for alerting us.

The file in your message was actually removed in Automator 4.9 and the action has been deprecated for quite some time. Our team’s guess is that there is some server caching in place that has some cached 4.8 files looking for a file that doesn’t exist in 4.9. You should definitely clear your server cache and really any caching that exists on the site, then try again.

If you really need it, you can get 4.8 from https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/uncanny-automator/advanced/ at the bottom of the page. Make sure too that you update the plugin normally, not by FTP (since some files were removed).

Thank you, will try that out and get back.

I am getting the same error in two of my sites… I renamed the uncanny plugin folder and the site came right back… I have no caching enabled.
How do I update the plugin “normaly” if I can not use the plug in?

    Thanks!

Hi @ebiz98 , if you disabled the plugin by renaming the folder, you can sign back into WordPress and it will still be disabled. You can rename the folder back and it will still be disabled, allowing you to then update if you need to.

It would be very useful to know more about your environment by seeing a copy of Automator > Status, but since it includes a lot of info about your site, maybe you could send us a copy via our website. We would also be interested to know which host you’re using and if you did clear any type of caching after updating (as above) and before reactivating the plugin.

    Thanks!

Hi @dagenius20 , just a note that you should definitely only use versions of Automator that came from our site or from www.ads-software.com for the free plugin. Using Uncanny Automator release from other sources or license keys that aren’t from us could potentially be related to the error that was reported earlier. When you do retest, make sure you are using the latest versions from us.

Since it has been over 3 weeks since the last update, we’ll go ahead and close this ticket.
