Undeletable Comment

  • There is a single comment on my site that I can’t delete. There is nothing special about it – it’s just a regular user comment on a regular post. But it behaves very strangely! In the list of comments it looks normal at first:

    But when I hit “trash” it doesn’t disappear like normal; instead it is just faded out:

    It doesn’t go away after that — when I reload the “All Comments” page it is always there, unfaded again.

    When I look at the comment in “Pending Comments,” all the action buttons (including Trash) are gone, and the comment appears not to be associated with a particular post:

    I should stress that no other comments are behaving this way. The rest look totally normal! What gives?

  • Did you try approving the comment and then deleting it?
    Do you have Akismet installed? Try disabling it and then deleting the comment.

    Disabling Akismet LOOKED like it worked (it let me press “Trash” and said the comment had been moved to the trash). But then when I went to the main comments page there it was again, undeleted. (And I tried approving then deleting; that didn’t work either — I got that same faded-out effect that I did when I tried deleting it before, in the picture above.)
