Understandable Instructions

Help! I’m not understanding at all how to use this plugin. Can someone tell me step-by-step how to set this up? I have set up widget areas in settings, then go to appearance>widgets, drag the UTW widget to the areas set up, then pull in the widgets I want in those tabs as well? Anything I drag into these areas disappears. I want the tabbed widget on my sidebar. What am I missing here?
