    Hi there

I was thinking my backups were being stored on Google drive but I see my hosting storage blew out as well….so does that mean my backups are stored on my hosting AND remote?
Also, what is a ‘normal’ suggested retention of backup policy – 30 days of daily backups or is that excessive?

    Thanks for your time…

    Simon

    Hi,

You can enabled the “Delete local backups” option to only keep the backups on your remote storage. You can find this setting in the UpdraftPlus “Settings” tab > Show Expert Settings.

If you have a busy website or it gets new updates everyday then daily backup is fine.

    Thanks,
    Bryle

    Hi Bryle

    Thanks for the awesome reply.

If I do daily backups as you suggest, how many days worth of backups do you suggest to retain? 30 days worth? Or more or less?

    Cheers Simon

30 full backups is going to take up quite a lot of storage

How much media/images are added to the site on a daily basis? If it’s not a lot I would suggest doing your files backup maybe twice a week and doing your DB every day. Your DB will contain all your posts content, comments etc.

There is no right answer but always keep at least 2 backups.
