Hello Support .. due to my lack of understanding I have not updated the plugin I purchased back in 2019 and checking the version I am using successfully 2.5.1

I checked today and see it is 3.3

As all my other plugins get updated automatically I did not realise wpdatatables does not.

My question .. is it safe now to update from 2.5.1 to 3.3 in one step and anyway to make this automatic in future?

    Alexander

    Hi Alexander,

Yes you should not have any issues. In those version of plugin we have some issues with auto-updates.

For details about future auto-updates and also if you have any issues with update on latest version, please open ticket on our support forum and our support agents will help you out. On this forum is not allowed support for premium version of plugin.

    Thank you for understanding.

    Best regards.

Thanks Support …Although I purchased via CodeCanyon (Envato marketplace)back in 2019 I do not have support so cannot submit a ticket.
I simply want to know if it safe to upgrade from 2.5.1 to 3.3 in one step and what precautions I have to take to safeguard my tables.
I have no issues with the plugin and recommend to all and the reason I purchased a premium version.
    Any help appreciated.

    Hi Alexander,

Yes, you should not have any issues, but I can not say with 100% because of your WordPress environment, other plugins and themes new updates that can create some conflict because of the nature of the WordPress conflicts are always possible.

What you should NOT do is to delete plugin before update from Plugins page because all your tables will be gone. In new versions of plugin you have the option ‘Prevent deleting tables in database’ after deleting from Plugins page, but your current version do not have this.

My suggestion is update manually over FTP as is explained in our docs on Updating plugin section.

If you have any issues after update please contact us over our support platform where you can open Pre-purchase ticket and explain to us what is going wrong, but we believe that everything should be ok.

Once again, do not delete plugin from Plugins page because you will lose all your tables.

    Best regards.

THANK YOU for the valuable piece of information

I am glad I contacted you because I was worried about my tables.

Will read the documentation carefully and check if I can at least copy my tables but I want to update so will have a go when confident.

    Appreciate the support and advice.
