• I am having several problems when I try to open a backup file created by BackWPUp. First .zip files still won’t open in Windows without using an extraction program. Normally you can open a .zip file in Windows without the need for any additional software.

Second, when using 7Zip to extract a backup file, I am consistently getting an “unexpected end of data” error and also a “data error” where at least one file is either corrupted or missing entirely.

Note: please do not offer using WinRAR as a solution to this problem. WinRAR is paid software that shouldn’t be needed to open a .zip file.

UPDATE: this is happening with backups that I download via the BackWPUp controls from within WordPress. If I download the same backup file from remote storage (DropBox), it opens normally and all the files appear to be there.

So, not the crisis that it first seemed to be, but still a problem.
