After I developed a WP site layout on my local machine with MAMP, I moved it to my live site hosted by Bluehost yesterday. I thought everything was working fine. Today, I tried to add a plugin and got the below error:
An unexpected error occurred. Something may be wrong with www.ads-software.com or this server’s configuration. If you continue to have problems, please try the support forums.
    Try again

I searched the forums and have determined that it is NOT maleware (I have scanned with the appropriate services), It is NOT a network or firewall from the host to wordpress because I have other sites running on the same server that do NOT have this problem. I have reinstalled WP and still have the problem.

I HAVE worked with bluehost and they stepped through everything they could think of on their end to no avail.

I am able to install plugins and themes via the downloaded zip files through the dashboard “upload” facility.

Could it be something with a db table that did not come over correctly during the import?
Does anyone have any other suggestions.

    Thanks,
    Hutch

    RESOLVED

As I continued reading and thinking about this problem I realized that it had to be something to do with what was copied from my local to the live site.

I tried to install JetPack and got basically the same error so my site was not communicating to WordPress for some reason. As I retraced my steps to moving the site files and restoring the DB from local to live site, I thought to re-check my WordPress Settings. Under Settings/General I had the WordPress Address (URL) and Site Address (URL) set as “samplesite.com” (which worked fine in my dev environment and also worked on the live site. I thought to modify these and changed both to ‘https://www.samplesite.com’ and saved the changes. I was immediately able to connect to wordpress and install plugins, themes and Jetpack.

    Hope this helps someone.

    Hutch
