Unexpected increase in new subscribers

During the past 2 months we’ve had a sudden increase in registrations to our Mailchimp list. The increase has been huge. Most of the new registrations look false (many have email address ending in mail.ru and our website is in English not Russian). I can’t tell if the new registrations are coming from the plugin or via some other channel. How do I stop this?
