We have a very random issue that I can never seem to replicate when attempting to do so but a number of customers have been having issues whereby when they enter their postcode they are then being told that we do not deliver to their address – even though we do.

We do have a number of postcodes that we don’t deliver to and these have been added correctly in the backend e.g

TD15*
DD9*
DD8*

And they appear to be blocked correctly but for some reason some customers with postcodes we do deliver to are also not allowed to checkout.

One of the postcodes not working (but as previously mentioned, this works for me when I try it but didn’t got the customer) is E1W 3EL and GL54 5HJ. Here’s the full list of postcodes that we don’t deliver to.

It’s very frustrating that I cannot replicate the specific postcodes that the customers are saying they get the can’t deliver to message.

That looks ok to me – the last UK Zone should catch anything that’s not specifically listed in the others! It’s very frustrating when you can’t replicate an issue yourself!

@seank123 Yeah, the annoying thing is we’ve no idea how many customers are getting affected by this as it’s not actually an error as such so not appearing in the error logs.

Hi,

I understand the postal codes E1W 3EL and GL54 5HJ are not working as expected.

To clarify if the theme or another plugin is not affecting the normal behavior, you can switch the theme to a default one like Storefront, and disable all plugins except WooCommerce, then check again to see if the issue persists. If not, it means you can reactivate the original theme and the plugins one at a time, and check again if the issue is present, until you find the cause of the problem.

@ihereira Thanks for the reply. As mentioned in the original comment, the issue is completely random i.e. those two postcodes I mentioned work 99% of the time but not always and so it’s impossible to try to recreate.

The issue that you referred to is not the same, that’s to do with postcodes that have been marked in the backend as undeliverable still being able to be delivered. Mine is different i.e. the user should be able to go through checkout correctly as their postcode is not marked in the backend as undeliverable.

Thank you for reaching back, clarifying things further!

I am inspecting the site’s System Status Report (SSR), and it appears that the WooCommerce Address Validation: by SkyVerge – 2.8.1 plugin:
- Is outdated. The latest version is 2.10.0
- Might have to do with the culprit of the issue
It is always good practice to keep backups, and keep software updated.

Furthermore, the store’s database reveals that a cart plugin was in use (PPy6gg_followup_customer_carts: Data: 9.89MB + Index: 2.67MB + Engine MyISAM).

My suggestion would be to utilize a plugin, or service, for tracking those abandoned carts, therefore bringing you a step closer to “seeing” what is happening.
