• Ever since I upgraded to 2.1 (was having issues with earlier versions too) any WordPress Page or or Post has been ridiculously slow. Sometimes a dialog box pops up asking me where I want to save the page I tried viewing. I’ve de-activated every plug-in except for wp-cache and I’m still having issues with it running extremely slow. Even the admin panel has become sluggish.

The site is hosted on Dreamhost and has been tested on a number of different computers.

  • Have you considered contacting Dreamhost?

I have searched about it and most issues just run in circles between dreamhost being the problem and wordpress being the problem. So it was sort of a last resort time thing

I’ve been searching through code to see if there have been any mistakes on my part that could be slowing everything down, but I have yet to see anything.

Also, every now and then when I click on a link I get sent to a white blank page. To view the content I have to refresh the page I’m on. This has just started happening with 2.1.

That last piece sounds like a wp-cache thing I’ve run into in the past.

Don’t disable the plugin, but go to options -> wp-cache and click “disable” there. Then see if that blank page comes back again.

Been a while, but I think if you search here for “dreamhost wp-cache” you’ll turn up some adjustments to fix that blank page thing, for what that’s worth.

Thanks for that. I haven’t seen the blank page since disabling it. I fixed a few lines of code and I’ve seen some improvement over speed as well, but I still feel like WP is not running as fast as it should especially considering I’m still getting options to download whatever page I click on.

I’m hosted on GoDaddy.com–same issue. Ungodly, ungodly slow. Site Admin always times out before I can get to the control panel.
