I received emails from Pinterest the past week or so telling me my tags are unhealthy and that I will lose verified status unless I can fix the errors, but have no idea what to do.

I can’t think of anything that has changed.. maybe I updated to the latest Woocommerce? Not sure, but I don’ think it’s theme or plugin related as it worked fine for a while until recently.

    The issue is with Checkout.

    The following errors :

    Checkout
Add a Checkout event that fires when someone successfully buys something on your site.

    Product ID
Make sure you are including Product IDs in your Checkout events. A Product ID can be any format that you choose as long as it matches the format used by your Catalog.

    Value
This should be the total value of the completed order, without commas, currency symbols. Tax or shipping should not be included. For example, if a user completes checkout for a 10 USD item and a 12 USD item, Value would be 22. Example values: 1000, 100.50, 10000.00.

    Currency
If you choose to include Currency with your Checkout events, make sure you follow the ISO 4217 format. If left blank, this will default to your Pinterest billing currency. Example Values: USD, GBP, CAD, EUR`

I installed the extension Pin Helper but it’s kinda silly.. how are you supposed to watch it for events if when you click anywhere on the website the tag helper box/window disappears? In any case, I added items to cart and did test buys and no events were seen anywhere, although it was likely just closing and reopening the extension every time I clicked it as any click on the actual website made it disappear.

Any idea what to do? been pulling my hair out with this for a week now. :/

    Thanks.

    Hi @waxaddict
    hope you’re doing fine.

For checking the tags of your site created by the plugin you can install the Chrome extension “Pinterest Tag Helper
Open Chrome and go to the site you want to check tags.
    Navigate on your site:

      Visit a Page
      Visit a Category Page
      Add product to Cart
      Place a dummy order.

In all the above steps you’ll see an “… event was sent successfully” if no errors were found on the tag. (To see the message you must click on the tag helper icon in the browser extensions section)

Add to cart, checkout event errors go away when a “user” adds an item to the cart and a successful checkout is completed.
You can do this yourself to clear up these errors or wait until a customer does this process.
If all events are showing with no errors, you should contact Pinterest Support or maybe wait until the Tag Health is updated.

    Hope this helps!

    Thank you,
    Diego

Hi Diego, I get no events at all on my website.

Is the Pinterest Tag helper window supposed to stay open? If I open it, once I click on my website/outside of it, it closes..

I have added to cart and placed test orders which go through fine on the WooCommerce side, but no events anywhere, for anything, but then I’m not sure if the Tag Helper window should be always open to register them or not.

The only tag that seems to have issues according to Pinterest is ‘Checkout’, so I assume I should be seeing events for add to cart or page visit at least.

Can I link to the website here? Will that help, maybe you could take a look in real time?

    Hey @waxaddict ,

You can link it, but we are not going to be able to check the Checkout event.

Could it be that nobody has actually bought anything for the however many days and so Pinterest tags haven’t fired for checkout?

Should test checkout purchases register with the tag? I made test purchases, but have had no real purchases for a week or so, maybe coinciding with the tag issue.

I noticed this seem to be a common issue with this plugin/pinterest tags but there doesn’t ever seem to be any solution posted in any of the threads nor any follow ups from people, nobody nailing down of what exactly causes it, when people do follow up it’s just to complain that their verified merchant status get removed, which sucks.

I have a week or so left to figure it out, I guess if I can’t figure it out in a few days I need to work out a way to add these tags manually without a plugin and hope that works.

    Hey @waxaddict,

    Hope you are doing well!

As Diego said and you confirmed:

Add to cart, checkout event errors go away when a “user” adds an item to the cart and a successful checkout is completed.
You can do this yourself to clear up these errors or wait until a customer does this process.

If you already did a test purchase, this will temporarily avoid the Tag issue.

Now I will explain the issue for the most common tag issues:

    • Checkout Tag events are triggered by the hook woocommerce_before_thankyou some plugins and also some Themes can modify the way that the hook works (like the plugin WooCommerce Thank You Page)
    • the Add to Cart tag events are triggered by the hook woocommerce_add_to_cart some plugins and also some Themes can modify the way that the hook works (like JetWooBuilder For Elementor, they might already fix the incompatibility)
    • The fix should be done by the theme or the plugin that modifies the standard way to trigger those WooCommerce events.

Let me know if that helps.

      Best,
      Christian

Hi Christian, still no luck unfortunately.

I’m checking network requests and notice one GET request is always blocked.. is it part of the plugin?

    Thanks.

Going to check this with the development team.

In the meanwhile try to check the following link conflict test on a Staging site, could be some plugin or even the Theme you are using. We need to isolate the problem first.

If you can’t find the issue, please contact us at WooCommerce.com > My Account > Support. You may need to create an account before you can access that page.

Please include a link to this forum thread, so that we can keep track of what’s already been done.

We will be able to help you further there.

    Best,

Just thought I’d say that I’m getting exactly the same errors, despite extensive checking of events by Christian and myself. We’ve exhausted things to check and quite honestly I think the problem is on Pinterest’s side. I’m trying to persuade their support people to investigate it. They’ve fobbed me off 3 times so far but I will persist!

Thanks, yeah I’m lost.. maybe will get onto Pinterest as well.

Worse is now my add to cart events don’t fire either.. no idea when that started but just checked and now they’re all unhealthy except for page visits.

“Make sure you are including Product IDs in your Add to Cart events. A Product ID can be any format that you choose as long as it matches the format used by your Catalog.”

    So weird.

I did see something about if they remove your verified status it’s not necessarily forever, it can be brought back in future, so that’s hopeful.
