I’m fast coming to the conclusion that WPMU isn’t worth all the extra hassle just to get a unified login across a set of sites: without being a php coder, plugin builder and a walking copy of the codex, any minor problem quickly bloats into “OK, forget that… any other plugin/theme/whatever?”

So, quick question: is there a way to do a unified login that will work on a set of non-MU sites? That’s all I really want.

WP-Hive was the best one, but the guy gave it up: https://wp-hive.com/

    You could try https://managewp.com/managewp-compared-to-multisite

Though that said, the majority of WP themes and plugins work just fine on Multisite.

I found a way to do it using a shared user table and some other stuff. Works a treat and is much more flexible/manageable than Multisite.

“the majority of WP themes and plugins work just fine on Multisite” – your mileage is obviously better than mine: of the plugins I wanted to use, a good 30% didn’t work. Maybe I have a knack for choosing the odd ones that refuse to cooperate but it really was a complete nightmare.

    Thanks for the pointers, though!
